A Story For The History Books

As I reflect on conversations I've had over the last couple of weeks with my family and friends, I've noticed a common sentiment, and it goes something like this: "These times, this pandemic ... this is going to go down in the history books. Our children's children will study this in school."

No doubt, our nation and our planet is making history. WE are history in the making. My choices, my decisions, my actions are history in the making. WOW ... so, given that truth I just have one question: what is the story the future you can be proud of? 12 months from now, when you look back on this time in history what will be the story you tell?

When I look back, here's the story I want to tell: I want to tell a story about a woman who was afraid, uncertain, and curious. She named and owned the hard things, giving herself the power to affect positive change and achieve a brand new purpose.

As a leader and business owner, she challenged the limiting beliefs around "zoom video conferences" and found unique ways to connect with and serve clients, inspiring virtually.

As a mom, she harnessed the feelings of overwhelm to make courageous requests - of her husband, of her friends, and her business partner - requests that resulted in everyone rising together.

She found brand new sources of inspiration: walks on the bike path, baking with her four-year-old son, even playing video games with her husband (a definite first!).

Most importantly she found a deep appreciation for the often overlooked things, like getting a coffee from Dunkin, exploring the aisles of Target, hugging her mom & dad, shaking hands with a new friend, walking the Sunday farmer's market, or even flying on a plane.

That is the story I want to tell. The thing is, the only way to make that story a reality is to live it NOW - be it now. And that is exactly what I am doing. So before this all gets written in the history books, I again ask you: What is the story the future you will be proud of? Write to me - I want to hear your story - the one you want in the history books about you! Courage always,

Much Compassion,
